USA: ChatGPT app for the iPhone released

OpenAI has developed a dedicated iPhone app for ChatGPT. The app is on available for immediate download in the App Store ready and offers users the possibility to use ChatGPT in a native app environment on their iPhones. Another advantage is that the app is completely free and contains no ads. However, the app’s availability is currently limited to the United States.

In the Announcing OpenAI states that the iPhone version of ChatGPT will provide users with the same features as the web version. It also includes support for ChatGPT Plus, a subscription model for those who want access to enhanced versions of the service.

OpenAI has also built Whisper into the app. This is OpenAI’s own open source speech recognition system. Users can thus speak their commands or questions into the app. In addition, users of the iOS app can search in the saved chats – this is not yet possible in the web version.

OpenAI could also have released the app for another reason. Numerous apps have been released recently claiming to work with ChatGPT, many of which were scams. Apple has since taken action against these vendors, particularly those attempting to exploit the GPT name.

Microsoft has also had an app for Bing for some time that supports the chatbot, which is also based on ChatGPT technology.

OpenAI confirmed plans to make the ChatGPT app for iPhone available for other countries as well. It is not known whether Germany is also included. Be an Android app “shortly” accessible.
