Wendy Sherman and Sergej Rjabkow have already contributed to defusing a global political conflict diplomatically and avoiding a military confrontation: As deputy foreign ministers of their countries, the American and Russian were instrumental in negotiating the Vienna nuclear deal with Iran in the summer of 2015. The burden on their shoulders, however, is much greater when they meet again this Monday in Geneva.
