Joe Biden was just missing this embarrassment. The US president’s poll numbers are abysmal, and he has done little this week to dispel doubts about his fitness to hold office: At one point, the 81-year-old appeared to confuse French President Emmanuel Macron with the long-deceased François Mitterand, and shortly afterwards he spoke from Helmut Kohl, who is also deceased, when he meant Angela Merkel.
