31 awards: Beyoncé equals Grammy record

With tens of millions of records sold, Beyoncé is one of the absolute megastars of the music industry. Now her 31st Grammy Award makes her a record holder again.
US singer Beyoncé has broken the record for most Grammy awards of all time. The 41-year-old superstar won the best R&B song category for “Cuff It” at the major music awards ceremony in Los Angeles, joining Anglo-Hungarian conductor Georg Solti on 31 awards in Grammy history. Beyoncé had other chances to become the sole record holder that evening.
With tens of millions of records sold and seven studio albums, all of which reached number one in the US charts, Beyoncé is one of the most successful musicians in the world – and one of the richest. She has already set several records in the charts. After a six-year break, she released her seventh studio album “Renaissance” in the summer.
On the danceable record she once again got to the heart of the zeitgeist. At the ceremony on Sunday in Los Angeles, the hit single “Break My Soul” could make the difference: the song was nominated in the two main categories “Best Song” and “Best Recording” of the year as well as in several other categories. In addition, “Renaissance” started as best album.
The 65th Grammy Music Awards were presented on Monday night in Los Angeles. The gala was again moderated by comedian Trevor Noah. According to the organizer, Grammys should be awarded in 91 categories this year.
