Alexander Zverev confidently reached the second round at the US Open. The tennis Olympic champion defeated the Australian Aleksandar Vukic 6: 4, 6: 4, 6: 4 and lived up to his role as favorite in the opening match at the Grand Slam tournament in New York.

After 2:09 hours, the 26-year-old converted his first match point. At 26 degrees and high humidity, Zverev only gave up his serve once in the final phase.
In the next round, the twelfth in the world rankings meets the winner of the match between Davis Cup teammate Daniel Altmaier and Constant Lestienne from France.
Korpatsch for the first time in the second round
Previously, Tamara Korpatsch was the first German player to reach the second round. The 28-year-old prevailed 6: 3, 6: 2 against the Romanian Irina-Camelia Begu and is in the top 64 for the first time in her career at the Grand Slam tournament in New York.
In the first set, Korpatsch was already 5-0 ahead, allowed himself a small phase of weakness, but kept his nerve. The second round was a largely clear affair for the world number 75.
