The top Democrat and most important ally of US President Biden, Pelosi, wants to run again for the US House of Representatives in November. Then there are midterm elections in the US Congress.

The Speaker of the US House of Representatives, Democrat Nancy Pelosi, intends to run again for the mandate of her constituency in the state of California in November’s election.

Much progress has already been made, “but much more needs to be done to improve people’s lives,” Pelosi said in a video message distributed on Twitter. “This election is very important. There is nothing less at stake than our democracy,” Pelosi said.

Main allies of Biden

The 81-year-old has been a member of the House of Representatives in Washington for her constituency in San Francisco for a good 30 years.

Fifteen years ago, she became the first woman to chair the House of Representatives. As Chair of the Chamber of Congress, she holds the third-highest office in the state ex officio, behind the President and Vice-President. Pelosi is considered an important ally of Democratic head of state Joe Biden.

In November, all seats in the House of Representatives and about a third of the seats in the Senate will be up for re-election. The Democrats hope to defend or expand their narrow majority in both chambers.

Republicans could secure a majority

Normally, however, the party to which the US President belongs loses seats in the midterm elections. Biden’s poll numbers have fallen – on the other hand, the Republicans are currently given a good chance of securing the majority.
