Normally America would have to pause for a moment. The two chambers of parliament would have to meet for special sessions and decide across party lines that things cannot go on like this. But of course nothing like that will happen after the massacre at an American school, even if the shooting at the Covenant School in Nashville dominated US news for a few hours.
