US Congress UFO Committee: Pentagon plans to investigate 400 sightings

Watch the video: Pentagon wants to clear up 400 UFO sightings: “Topic was swept under the carpet for a long time”.

STORY: They are mainly known from science fiction films: unidentified flying objects, “UFOs” for short. On Tuesday, however, a subcommittee of the US Congress also dealt with the issue. For security reasons, the Department of Defense wants to clarify the origin of 400 UFO sightings by members of the US military since 2004. In English, UFOs are referred to as “UAPs”, which translates to “unidentified aerial phenomena”. The Subcommittee’s Andre Carson explained: VOTE ANDRE CARSON “The stigma attached to UAPs has stood in the way of good intelligence analysis for too long. Pilots didn’t report, or were laughed at when they did. The Department of Defense has been the issue was pushed into the back room or swept under the rug entirely for fear of skepticism. We now know better. UAPs are unexplained. That’s true. But they are real.” Deputy Director of Naval Intelligence Scott Bray showed several videos at the hearing. The origin of some UFO sightings has already been clarified, while others are still a mystery to this day. At the hearing, it was said that the task force set up for the clarification is currently investigating all the evidence. According to Bray, possible extraterrestrial origins would not be ruled out either. There was already a preliminary report on UFO sightings in the summer of 2021. Tuesday’s report and hearing mark a turning point for the Washington administration. For decades, observations of UFOs have been dismissed and discredited. The hearing was the first public congressional hearing on the issue since 1969.
