They sat there as if in the dock, the presidents of three of America’s most famous universities. Under pressure from Republicans, these women had to be questioned by US lawmakers on Tuesday about anti-Semitism on their grounds following the Hamas terror in Israel and the subsequent bombing of the Gaza Strip by the Israeli army. Before things really started, there was a brief silence for the victims and then a short video was played.
