Speaker Mike Johnson finally gets billions in aid for Ukraine through the US Parliament. Does the Republican have to pay for this with his office? It doesn’t matter at first, because this is a much bigger task for the West.
America’s representatives have risen from the depths of their domestic politics to greatness. They ignored the mother of all power struggles for a moment and did what was absolutely necessary in the confrontation with Russia. They have recognized that their own country, the US-backed system, their allies in Europe and that brave Ukraine are in dire straits. The huge aid to Ukraine comes not a second too late – it will influence the course of the war and give the country and thus the West led by the USA the chance to withstand the spring offensive of the Russian invaders.
