After a sudden sleet shower, several accidents occurred on Autobahn 6 in Upper Palatinate. As the police announced on Monday, a 26-year-old was killed on Sunday evening and five other people were injured.
According to the information, the 26-year-old crashed her car into the center guardrail in a left-hand bend near Leuchtenberg (Neustadt ad Waldnaab district) on the road that was wet from the shower. The car stopped facing the direction of travel without lights and another driver collided head-on with it. Patrol officers who happened to be driving by took the woman out of her car. Despite resuscitation measures, she died at the scene of the accident. The driver of the second car was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
In the approximately two and a half hours previously, three other accidents had already occurred on the same section of the route. A 72-year-old also skidded his car and crashed into the outer and central guardrail before another driver crashed into the car. The male and female driver and the passengers of both cars were taken to hospital with minor injuries. A 51-year-old and a 34-year-old remained uninjured after their cars also skidded due to the sleet and crashed into the guard rails.
