Austria sets penalties for those who refuse to be vaccinated
Austria plans to introduce compulsory vaccinations in February. The media are now reporting on further details of the law. Accordingly, a penalty should be due every three months. A final warning is to come beforehand from the Minister of Health in a separate letter.
After the mandatory vaccination came into force in February, Austria wants to ask refusers to pay up every three months. This is reported by several media in the country. Accordingly, the corresponding bill provides for payments of 600 euros – every three months. The deadline should be March 15th. Anyone who cannot provide proof of vaccination at this point will have to pay.
Like the media – like the “courier” or “today“- further report that pregnant women, people with certain health impairments, children under 14 years of age and those who have recovered (for six months) are exempt from the obligation to vaccinate. In addition, the law apparently also regulates how often people have to be vaccinated in the future The first vaccination is compulsory from February 1. The second vaccination must be given within a maximum of 42 days after the first vaccination, and people then have at least 120 and a maximum of 270 days for the booster, as they say.
According to reports, all those who have not been vaccinated will then be personally requested by letter from the Minister of Health on February 15 to get their vaccination. The deadline for this is March 15 – the first payment date for any penalty, as it goes on to say.
In terms of figures, the refusal costs a fine of 2400 euros in one year alone, and fees can be added so that the sum could increase to 3600 euros. In the last step or if the refusal persists, substitute custodial sentences are conceivable. The law should initially be limited to the end of January 2024.
