Unvaccinated cruise passengers with private nightclub, pool and sushi bar

The cruise is no longer really fun for the unvaccinated passengers of the “Freedom of the seas”. The story is reported by our colleagues from Release. On this Royal Caribbean shipping company boat that left Miami, Florida on July 2, vacationers who have not received an anti-covid vaccine are deprived of certain activities. The initial article, published on the Portland Press Herald describes the conditions to which these travelers are subject.

“No sushi bar, no casino, no spa… The best dining rooms are also inaccessible to them. Impossible, for them, to wiggle on the tracks of the nightclub of the Viking Crown. In the theater, they are grouped together in a separate area at the back. Indoor pools and bars? Exit also “, details Release.

An expensive trip

The Centers for Disease Prevention and Control (CDC), the main federal public health agency in the United States, issued new rules in early May to allow cruise passengers to return to sea under strict conditions from a port in the country. But these rules only require the wearing of a mask and respect for sanitary procedures and distancing.

In this specific case, the company has decided to go a step further by requiring three PCR tests (paid in the United States) for its customers over 12 years of age and unvaccinated. Travel insurance, the cost of which has been estimated at $ 200 by the Portland Herald Press was also requested from this category of passengers.

Originally scheduled for last June, the maiden voyage of the new Royal Carribean International liner was delayed by more than a month after the discovery of eight cases of Covid-19 among the crew.
