Daniel Bradley is ten years old and lives in the English county of Derbyshire. It is thanks to doctors at Birmingham Children’s Hospital that Daniel is alive at all. Because when he was just three months old, Daniel was diagnosed with craniosynostosis – a premature ossification of one or more sutures of the skull. At worst, that would have meant Daniel’s brain had no room to grow. During a nine-hour operation, surgeons disassembled and reassembled Daniel’s skull. After the operation, Daniel grew up quite normally – now he wants to thank his rescuers. He will complete a mini triathlon with his friend Finley. The program includes a 500 meter swim, 4.8 kilometer run and 9.6 kilometer bike ride. With the triathlon, the two friends want to collect donations for the children’s hospital and an aid organization that Daniel’s family supported at the time. A GoFundMe page has already raised almost £4,000 in donations – even though the triathlon will not take place until April 24th.
