The news is extremely disturbing: Iran has reportedly enriched uranium to 84 percent – a level close to that required for use in a nuclear weapon and even sufficient for a simple bomb design. It will be interesting to see how the regime in Tehran explains this. It is unlikely, but not impossible, that it was an accident. More plausibly, it’s a message aimed at the US and the Europeans who once negotiated the nuclear deal with Iran, i.e. France, Britain and Germany.
