Undercover police thriller, love story, melodrama about trans identity: Christoph Hochhäusler’s “Unto the End of the Night”.
At the beginning of the film there is an empty, freshly whitewashed apartment. Everything is still possible, very different life stories could take place here. Then, while the opening credits are running, schemes of craftsmen and interior designers get to work, with the order of the police to prepare the apartment as a backdrop for an imaginary life.
