Bernhard Schuessler grew up in Brazil, where he directly experienced the consequences of slash and burn in the rainforest. Today the 22-year-old, who is almost blind, sits on the Unterschleißheim city council and is committed to climate protection and social justice.
Bernhard Schüßler lives for politics. “I can hardly hold a conversation without politicizing an issue,” says the 22-year-old. He sits in the parliamentary group room of the Greens on Rathausplatz in Unterschleißheim, for which he has been committed since he was 16 years old and for which he sits on the city council. He has tied his long dark hair in a bun, his white cane is leaning against the chair next to him.
