Unterschleißheim – More open planning for Montessori school – district of Munich

The future Montessori school on the Munich Ring in Unterschleißheim will have a significantly narrower access road than originally planned. The development of the site, which was initially criticized by the city council’s building committee, was revised and now unanimously approved in a joint meeting of the building and traffic committees. The original plan would have envisaged access from the Munich ring road to the entire width of the property, which the city councilors saw as the serious disadvantage that the visual relationship between Valentinspark and Waldfriedhof would then be severed. The part of the property that was provided with the access road without any problems during the planning phase had previously been expressly declared as a green space in the land use plan.

Various other development variants were now presented, with the committee clearly deciding on one variant. Access to and exit from the site will now only be in a short loop that covers less than a third of the street frontage, not the entire length as before. The disputed view and green corner is thus kept completely free. The two committees expressly called for the planning to be optimized so that, despite the access and exit, the footpaths and cycle paths on the Munich Ring remain safe to use. Ideally, the “parent taxis” to the new Montessori school should not be taken to the site at all, but should be organized to get off and be picked up at the Munich Ring, it said. Parking spaces on the school premises should be reduced to the legally required minimum.
