Unterschleißheim – Center for the visually impaired takes in blind refugees – district of Munich

Among the millions of people forced to leave Ukraine because of the war, many are blind and partially sighted. The state school for the blind in Kharkiv was severely damaged by attacks. Some residents of the affiliated home for the blind have arrived in Unterschleißheim and have been housed in the premises of the Southern Bavarian Center for the Visually Impaired and Blind (SBZ). The SBZ receives more calls for help for blind refugees every day. Some rooms of the SBZ are currently being set up for refugees who are expected in the next few days. Employees of the SBZ and the Lions Club Unterschleißheim have collected donations, but the essentials are often still missing. Anyone who would like to help should contact the Unterschleißheim Center for the Visually Impaired, Pater-Setzer-Platz 1, www.sbz.deTelephone 089/310 00 10 or the Lions Club Unterschleißheim, Edith-Stein-Straße 27, www.lionsclub-schleissheim.de.
