Unknown perpetrators stole thousands of liters of diesel from parked vehicles in the Upper Palatinate and Swabia. Thieves pumped out around 2,000 liters of diesel from construction machinery at a construction site in Kemnath (district of Tirschenreuth), the police said on Tuesday. Apparently they were there between Friday noon and Monday morning with a larger vehicle, it said.
In the Swabian town of Monheim (Donau-Ries district), according to the police, an unknown person pumped 366 liters of diesel out of the tank of a truck. The driver parked his truck on Tuesday night for a break in a parking lot next to Bundesstraße 2, the police said. Early on Tuesday morning he noticed that the truck’s heating was no longer working. He then checked the tank, which had been pumped completely empty. In both cases, investigators are now looking for witnesses.
