The allegations of plagiarism have become public through a specialist article. Transport Senator Schreiner now wants to clear up the accusation of deception herself as quickly as possible and is asking for an examination.

The The University of Rostock wants to examine the doctoral thesis by Berlin’s Transport Senator Manja Schreiner (CDU) for allegations of plagiarism and to investigate the allegation of cheating. The university announced this on Monday. Schreiner asked the university to examine the allegation as soon as possible.

“The law faculty is responsible for reviewing the doctorate.” The Senate Department for Transport, Environment and Climate Protection announced that the university had been asked by email on Monday morning to examine the doctoral thesis. It was sent to the rector and dean of the law faculty.

Schreiner had already announced on Sunday that she wanted to have her doctoral thesis checked. Previously there had been reports of alleged irregularities in her doctoral thesis on “Employee Consideration in Takeover Law” from 2007. As a result, volunteers analyzed the work on the VroniPlag Wiki portal and, according to their own statements, found several dozen text passages that were objectionable.

According to “Bild am Sonntag”, the case became public through a specialist article in the “Neue Legal Wochenschrift”. There, the Frankfurt law professor Roland Schimmel reported on so-called “pawn sacrifices” in academic papers and cited Schreiner’s work as an example. The term plagiarism hunters understand uncleanly marked text transfers from other works.
