Unity Expo exhibition opened in Halle on the Day of German Unity

The open-air exhibition on the 31st anniversary of German unity began in Halle on Saturday. Saxony-Anhalt’s Prime Minister Reiner Haseloff (CDU) and Halle’s Mayor Egbert Geier (SPD) opened the four-and-a-half kilometer tour in drizzling weather in the morning.

At the opening, Haseloff praised the exhibition as a “successful presentation of the united country”, as the State Chancellery announced. During the tour, the diversity of lifestyles, the richness of our culture and the strength of solidarity become clear. Haseloff also referred to Saxony-Anhalt’s importance as the heartland of German history. The country produced both the first German king, the first German emperor and the first German chancellor.
