Unemployment in the district of Ebersberg is increasing – Ebersberg

Despite a slight increase in the unemployment rate, the Freising employment agency responsible for the Ebersberg district describes the situation in the region as “stable”. According to the current press release, the number of unemployed people in the districts of Freising, Erding, Dachau and Ebersberg rose by 676 to a total of 8045 in June. This corresponds to a rate of 2.2 percent. In May, the unemployment rate was still 2.0 percent.

“The situation on the regional labor market is stable, the demand for workers has recently been at a good level – and yet the number of unemployed in our districts has risen sharply in recent weeks,” says Nikolaus Windisch, head of the Employment Agency Freising. The reason: People from Ukraine who have found refuge in the region since the outbreak of war have been able to be cared for by the local job centers since June 1 and receive basic security benefits. Around 1,600 employable Ukrainians were already registered at the job centers in the districts of Freising, Erding, Dachau and Ebersberg in mid-June. “However, we are assuming that even more people from the Ukraine will register at the job centers in the next few weeks and we therefore expect the number of unemployed to continue to rise,” says Windisch.

Refugees should be integrated into the labor market

However, not all refugees will be able to start looking for a new job immediately, as there are many mothers with small children among them, according to the employment agency. In addition, it is important to first remove language barriers, get professional qualifications recognized and much more. “For many refugees, the focus is still on arriving, finding appropriate accommodation and securing their livelihood,” says Nikolaus Windisch. “Successful integration into the labor market will require a great deal of commitment and support from various parties in the near future. We are happy to make our contribution and are already doing so.”

Meanwhile, a trend towards increasing unemployment can also be seen in the district of Ebersberg. The number of unemployed rose here in June by 92 compared to the previous month to a total of 1574 women and men. The unemployment rate in June thus increased slightly by 0.1 percentage points to a current value of 1.9 percent. The companies informed the Ebersberg employment agency about 232 new jobs to be filled in the district. A total of 1,634 positions reported to the employment agency were vacant.
