“Underworlds of the Present”: An LMU workshop in the Monacensia – Munich

Descending into the “underworlds of the present” – if that’s not a topic that gets you in the mood for All Saints’ Day? Great minds meet at the Monacensia to discuss the interface between literature and science as part of the LMU series “W:ortwechsel”. In readings, lectures and discussions (in English, Spanish and German) from 4 p.m., the artist Lilian Robl will first present a work about Rabe Perplexum’s work, which deals with funeral rituals, and the literary scholar Cristina Rivera Garza will deal with death cults Latin America.

Things get particularly underground at 7 p.m.: Then the writer Ann Cotten, who deals with “Instructions from Ancestors” in her new book, speaks with her colleague Samanta Schweblin, who explores all kinds of abysses in works like “Seven Empty Houses.” And before the audience feels abandoned by all good spirits at the end, DJ Tristan Marquardt conjures up the magic of music.

Contemporary underworlds, Wed., Oct. 25, 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., Monacensia, Maria-Theresia-Str. 23, free entry
