Is Neve Campbell returning to her “Scream” origins? The actress’s latest statements are making people sit up and take notice.

Is there any positive news about the planned seventh part of the horror series “Scream” for the first time in months full of expulsions and resignations? At least that’s what the latest statements from the former leading actress Neve Campbell (50) indicate. Her character Sidney Prescott was only a minor character in part five and was completely missing from the sixth film because she was not satisfied with the fee offered. However, she doesn’t rule out a return to the franchise, as the industry portal “The Hollywood Reporter” now reports – but only under her conditions, as she revealed at the BAFTA Tea Party on Saturday afternoon in Beverly Hills.

Since part seven is currently without a leading actress, Campbell knows its value all the more: “I know there’s a lot of excitement right now and I can imagine that they’re trying hard to think about what they could do. I wouldn’t be surprised if my phone would ring,” said Campbell.

In any case, she would be willing to talk to a potential call from the producers, as the star further reveals: “If they get in touch with me, they would have to do so with a respectful offer that I feel fits what they want I mean to the franchise.”

Campbell left the “Scream” series a few years ago with the accusation that she had not been treated with the necessary respect – and that things would have been different if she were a man.

There is currently a curse surrounding “Scream 7”.

In November of last year, the new “Scream” lead actress Melissa Barrera (33, since part five) was released. Spyglass Media Group, producers of the horror film series, removed the actress from her role after she made critical comments about the Israel-Hamas conflict on social media. Film colleague Jenna Ortega (21) will also no longer be seen in the role of Barrera’s sister in the film series, as there are scheduling conflicts with the filming of the Netflix hit “Wednesday 2”, as reported by “Deadline”, among others.

But even without a director, serial killer Ghostface’s seventh prank is currently underway: At Christmas time in 2023, it was announced that director Christopher Landon (48) would no longer be involved in the production.

On December 23rd, the American screenwriter and film director announced on the online service “X” (formerly Twitter) that he had left “Scream 7” a few weeks ago. “This will disappoint some and delight others. It was a dream job turned nightmare. And it breaks my heart for everyone involved. Everyone. But it’s time to move on.”
