Uncomfortable questions? The CSU would rather play dead – Bavaria

What is it actually like now: Is the CSU for the urban-surrounding railway in the greater Nuremberg area – or against it? And what does party leader Markus Söder say about the fact that Erlangen’s CSU is thwarting this infrastructure project worth hundreds of millions? You can ask. Just don’t expect any answers.

On March 4, 2024, the state leadership of the CSU received some SZ questions on the topic of the planned “city-surrounding railway” (StUB). The StUB, currently budgeted at 730 million euros, is intended to connect the cities of Nuremberg, Erlangen and Herzogenaurach with a tram. The idea has been around for decades, and the project has been planned at a cost of millions since 2016, when more than 60 percent of Erlangen residents voted in favor of such a tram in a referendum.
