By 2030, the world’s oceans should be better protected. Instead of exploiting them ruthlessly, the seas should be used in such a way that they can regenerate themselves again and again and thus remain intact. This is what the member states of the United Nations have set themselves in the so-called Agenda 2030. The UN Ocean Conference, taking place this week in Lisbon, aims to bring this goal a step closer. A daunting challenge, because the seas are threatened by many different dangers. A selection.
