Ulrike Demmer as RBB director: annual salary fixed, contract secured – media

One day before the planned start of service, the board of directors of Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg agreed on a service contract with the new director Ulrike Demmer on Thursday. According to the Board of Directors, your basic annual salary is 220,000 euros. Halfway through the term of office, an increase of 4.5 percent is planned for the remaining 30 months. Demmer is also allowed to use her company car, which according to RBB information is a “mid-range car without a driver”, for private use and pay tax on the benefit in kind. This means that Demmer gets around 75,000 euros less than her direct predecessor, the interim director Katrin Vernau, and a whole 120,000 euros less than the long-time RBB boss Patricia Schlesinger, who was fired without notice and who, according to the RBB, recently came to 340,000 euros. However, Demmer’s remuneration is still 40,000 euros higher than the salary according to B11 (around 180,000 euros), which Berlin and Brandenburg want in the future to be the upper limit for the director’s salary in the new RBB state contract. The wording “equivalent to salary according to B11”, which should be included in the law, leaves a certain amount of leeway. The state treaty is to be decided in the first quarter of 2024.
