Uli Hoeneß has an opinion on almost every topic. The former Bayern boss is now talking about vegetarians and vegans in an interview.

Bavaria’s honorary president Uli Hoeneß made it clear in an interview with “Antenne Bayern” that he is not a big fan of a meat-free diet. He also criticized the attitude of vegans, who did not allow any other opinion.

“I still accept vegetarian food a little, vegan at all, because people only get sick in the long run,” explained the 69-year-old former sausage manufacturer, who in 2001 handed his company HoWe Wurstwaren KG into the hands of his son Florian.

Hoeneß: “I don’t like the stuff”

“The problem is that they are militant. If you criticize them today, they’ll attack you,” he says little about the alleged narrow-mindedness of vegans. The desire for an appropriate diet doesn’t bother him “at all. I only have one problem with the people who criticize the others.”

Hoeneß himself had also tried vegetarian meat substitutes without being convinced. “I don’t like the stuff because everything is in there that shouldn’t be in a Nuremberg sausage, namely stabilizers and flavor enhancers.”

Accordingly, he will not rely on vegetarian and vegan dishes for the celebration of his 70th birthday in January, but will stick to the bratwurst, because: His guests should “have fun while eating”.
