The second day of the trial in the 2006 World Cup trial begins a few minutes late. It is a day on which the focus will be on the statements of the three accused ex-officials of the German Football Association (DFB) on the tax allegations. But before it’s their turn, the presiding judge Eva-Marie Distler has an announcement to make – and it’s quite something.
