Ukrainian president hails scale of international support

Faced with fears of a Russian attack, “the largest” since 2014, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky thanked the massive mobilization of international leaders. He also thanked these Western colleagues for their “military and technical assistance”, a “precious” help.

And it must be said that the international political community is rushing to support Ukraine. British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki are expected in Kiev on Tuesday. They will be followed in the week by the head of the Dutch government, Mark Rutte, and the Turkish president, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Finally, five foreign ministers from European countries will be on Ukrainian territory the following week.

Towards a new summit for a way out of the crisis

Volodymyr Zelensky said that Ukraine was working “actively” to organize a new summit for the settlement of the conflict in the east of the country. A sum he hopes in the so-called “Normandy” format, bringing together Russian, French and German leaders. At the same time, the Ukrainian president signed a decree which aims to increase the strength of the Ukrainian army by 100,000 soldiers in three years, in addition to the current 250,000.
