According to reports in the Russian media, three foreigners fighting on the side of Ukraine face the death penalty. Two others are being charged as mercenaries in a court in the Donetsk separatist region, the state news agency TASS reports. The Briton, Croat and Swede were captured in and around the port city of Mariupol. The two accused, who do not face execution, are two other Britons, according to the report. A court in Donetsk sentenced two Britons and a Moroccan to death in June. Foreign governments refuse to negotiate with the self-proclaimed, Russian-recognized Donetsk People’s Republic.
