According to Ukraine, it has achieved some successes in the battle at Bakhmut. Attacks were carried out over a width of three kilometers and a length of 2.6 kilometers, the founder of the controversial Ukrainian Azov regiment, Andriy Biletskyj, said on Telegram. The territory is completely free of Russian soldiers. At least two companies of the Russian army are said to have been wiped out and prisoners taken in the fighting south-west of Bakhmut.

The head of the Russian Wagner mercenary force, Yevgeny Prigozhin, had previously complained that the regular army was retreating on the flank of his units. “They left everything, ran away and exposed the front over a width of almost two kilometers and a depth of five hundred meters,” complained the 61-year-old. Three square kilometers of territory had been given up. Prigozhin warned against further Ukrainian advances on the flanks of his units at Bakhmut.

“Goliath staggers”

From a NATO perspective, Moscow’s armed forces in Ukraine are generally in an increasingly difficult situation. The duration and course of the war are increasingly affecting Moscow. “Russia is in the 15th month of a war that it thought would last three days,” Military Committee chairman Admiral Rob Bauer said in Brussels. He added: “Goliath falters. And that’s because David, backed by 50 nations from around the world, has shown tremendous resilience and tactical brilliance.” NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg expects the alliance to launch new plans for defense strategy and the expansion of armaments production at the July summit. “We’re moving in the right direction, but not as fast as the dangerous world we live in requires,” warned Stoltenberg.

Combat morale in Ukraine remains very high

According to the German Inspector General Carsten Breuer, however, Kiev is making progress with the preparations for its military offensive. “I didn’t experience any war-weariness, just an almost irrepressible will not only to end this war but also to win it,” he told the news agency after visiting the site. The ground conditions are currently difficult. “The ground is still muddy and damp. There are still large lakes in some of the fields. The conditions for a comprehensive offensive have not yet been in place in the past few weeks,” Breuer continued. In all talks, however, he was told that plans for the Ukrainian offensive were underway.

Drones attack Russian military site

According to official information, two drones attacked a Russian military base in the western Russian region of Voronezh, not far from Ukraine. The attack was repelled, wrote the local governor Alexander Gusev on his Telegram channel. “One was thrown off course by (anti-aircraft) action and crashed, the other was destroyed by shelling.” Several media reported that more than ten Russian soldiers were injured in the attack. According to the independent Internet portal Astra, the attack was aimed at the Pogonovo military training area southwest of Voronezh. Because of the attack, ten ambulances were ordered to Pogonowo, the number of injured was “over ten”.

London sees significant weaknesses in view of the Moscow parade

According to British intelligence experts, the “Victory Day” parade over Nazi Germany on Tuesday in Moscow revealed the weaknesses of the Russian military. Russia’s 15-month war of aggression in Ukraine poses material and strategic communications challenges, the Defense Ministry’s daily intelligence report in London said on Wednesday. Of the 8,000 military personnel who attended the parade, most were members of auxiliaries, paramilitaries and cadets. The only regular troops ready for action were contingents of railroad troops and military police.
