The emergency call was made at around 1.05 a.m. because there was no doubt that there was a fire on the ship. Russia’s missile cruiser Moskva (Moscow) was “seriously damaged,” the Russian Defense Ministry admitted on Thursday. A fire had therefore triggered the detonation of ammunition on the ship. It is not yet possible to say more precisely, the exact cause is still being investigated. The entire crew had been disembarked and the ship was being towed into a port. Ukraine, on the other hand, has long since identified the cause: it has Russia’s warship with two anti-ship missiles of the type Neptune Attacked and hit, said the governor of the Ukrainian Odessa region, Maxim Marchenko. This could change the situation in the Ukrainian coastal area, morally, but also militarily.
