Russia reports drone attack on Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant – three people injured

Russian troops have occupied Europe’s largest nuclear power plant for two years. Now the factory was bombarded again. Meanwhile, Ukraine reports three deaths in a shelling of a house in the Zaporizhzhia region.
DThe power plant management at the occupied Zaporizhia nuclear power plant has accused the Ukrainian military of a drone attack on the complex. According to Russian information, three employees were injured. The Russian nuclear company Rosatom said there was an attack near the power plant’s canteen as well as on a loading zone and the dome of the nuclear power plant’s sixth reactor.
The attack caused no damage and the radiation in and around the largest nuclear power plant in Europe corresponds to the norm. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna said it had been informed about this by the Russian side. In the evening, the authority announced that the shelling had not endangered nuclear safety.

The information provided by the Russian side could not be independently verified. She has been complaining for days about increasing drone attacks on the plant and blames Ukraine for them.
The nuclear power plant in southern Ukraine was occupied by Russian troops in spring 2022. The six reactors are idle, but still need to be cooled. The factory was repeatedly bombarded. The international public is concerned about nuclear safety.

Meanwhile, Ukraine reported three deaths in a Russian shelling of a front-line town of Hulyaypole in the Zaporizhzhia region. Governor Oleh Synjehubov reported three injuries from the Kharkiv region in northeastern Ukraine. And in the Russian border region of Belgorod, a girl was killed when debris from a downed Ukrainian drone fell on a car in which she was sitting with her family, regional governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said via Telegram. Four other people were injured.
