Ukraine war: Putin to meet UN Secretary-General Guterres in Moscow

According to his own statements, EU Council President Charles Michel urged Russian President Vladimir Putin in a telephone call to immediately grant humanitarian access to besieged cities in Ukraine. He also demanded that there be a safe corridor from Mariupol and other cities, especially on the occasion of the Easter celebrations of the Orthodox Christians this weekend, Michel wrote on Twitter.

He had emphatically reaffirmed the position of the EU. This includes, among other things, support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and condemnation of Russian aggression.

EU sources said that in the conversation on Friday at 11:00 a.m., Michel made it very clear that the war was unacceptable and also explained the cost to Russia of the Western sanctions. In addition, the Belgian shared his findings about Russian misjudgments and losses. He did this in part to fill the information vacuum that could exist around Putin. In addition, Michel asked the Russian President to deal directly with the Ukrainian head of state Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
