Ukraine war: Olaf Scholz says no to the import ban from Russia – Austria’s parties argue about Zelenskyj’s speech

The Russian war of aggression in Ukraine has been raging for almost four weeks. Civilian casualties are growing; more and more buildings are being destroyed in Kyiv. Follow the most important developments in the star-Live blog.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced that it will be on any possible “compromise” in the negotiations with Russia to let the people decide. The terms of a possible deal could mark “historic” changes, the head of state said in an interview with news website Suspilne published Monday evening. The Ukrainian side will ultimately decide on this in a referendum.

Since the Russian war of aggression in Ukraine began on February 24, Kyiv and Moscow negotiators have met for several rounds of negotiations. Turkey, which has taken on a mediating role, reported progress in the talks on Sunday. The negotiations are therefore, among other things, about the “neutrality” of Ukraine demanded by Russia, the status of the so-called People’s Republics of Donetsk and Luhansk and the status of the Black Sea peninsula of Crimea, annexed by Russia in 2014.
