US President Joe Biden has signed a budget law with extensive aid for Ukraine. “This bill includes historic funding — $13.6 billion — to address Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and its impact on surrounding countries,” Biden said at the White House. “It is extremely difficult to get aid to Ukraine while the Russian attack continues.” But it still works. Assistance to Ukraine includes humanitarian, economic and military assistance. Overall, the US government’s budget for the remainder of the financial year through the end of September is approximately $1.5 trillion (1.36 trillion euros).
According to the White House, on Saturday Biden ordered the release of arms sales and military aid for Ukraine in the amount of 200 million dollars. Two weeks earlier, he had approved emergency aid of over $350 million for the Ukrainian armed forces immediately after the start of the Russian war of aggression. Since the beginning of last year, US military aid to Ukraine has totaled around $1.2 billion, according to US government figures. The US Congress passed the budget bill last week.
