Russia once again attacked Ukraine with drones and missiles during the night. In Kharkiv, at least six people were killed and eleven others were injured. There were also deaths again in Zaporizhia.

New Russian drone and missile attacks caused civilian casualties overnight, especially in the northeastern Ukrainian city of Kharkiv. “A total of six people were killed and eleven people were injured,” said the local military governor, Oleh Synjehubov, on his Telegram channel.

Conflict parties as a source

In the current situation, information on the course of the war, shelling and casualties provided by official bodies of the Russian and Ukrainian parties to the conflict cannot be directly verified by an independent body.

Nine residential buildings, dormitories, an administration building, a kindergarten, a café, a car wash and a gas station as well as several vehicles were damaged by the bombardment with repurposed S-300 anti-aircraft missiles. Mayor Ihor Terekhov had also written about drone attacks on the city.

According to information from Kiev, Russia shot down a total of 32 combat drones and six missiles of various types against Ukraine during the night. The Ukrainian Air Force said 28 drones and half of the missiles were intercepted.

Double attack on rescue workers in Zaporizhia

In addition to Kharkiv, impacts were also reported in Zaporizhia. According to Ukrainian information, at least four people were killed there on Friday evening. 20 others were injured.

According to the regional governor, it was a double attack: “First two rockets were fired, and 40 minutes later, when rescue workers and police were on the scene, a second rocket hit the same place,” Ivan Fedorov said in a video message. Two journalists were among the injured.

The US ambassador in Kiev, Bridget Brink, condemned the “disgusting” approach on the online service X. “The goal is obviously to kill the first responders and journalists on the scene,” she explained. The tactic has long been used by Russia, apparently to specifically destroy civilian helpers and infrastructure.
