Because American brands are still selling products in Russia, Sean Penn has now called on his fellow citizens to boycott Coca-Cola, Pepsi and McDonald’s.
A few days ago he gave an emotional interview to CNN in which he recounted his experiences in Ukraine. Sean Penn is now calling on his fellow Americans to boycott. He is specifically concerned with three large companies that have not (yet) stopped selling in Russia despite far-reaching sanctions: Coca-Cola, Pepsi and McDonald’s.

“Until Coca-Cola, PepsiCo and McDonald’s go out of business in Russia, American citizens have a very safe and easy way to help Ukraine. Each of us can choose not to buy these products and ask our friends to do the same.” , the Hollywood actor writes on his Twitter channel and links to an article that also calls for a boycott. PepsiCo not only sells Pepsi soft drinks, but also Gatorade, 7 Up and the chip brand Doritos.
At the end of February, Penn, who had been filming a documentary about the Russian invasion in Ukraine, gave details of his escape. “Two colleagues and I walked miles to the Polish border after leaving our car on the side of the road,” he wrote alongside a picture of himself holding a trolley suitcase. He fled to Poland himself
“Almost all the cars in this photo are occupied only by women and children, most have no luggage and the car is their only valuable,” explained the filmmaker.
Penn has traveled to the country several times to film his documentary. On the day of the invasion by Russian troops, he attended a press conference held by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, whose office later released a statement thanking the actor and filmmaker. The statement also said the 61-year-old interviewed Ukrainian politicians, military officials and journalists.
Penn is now back in his adopted home of Los Angeles.
