Moscow is apparently pursuing the separation and annexation of the Ukrainian region of Kherson, as it did in Crimea in 2014. It installs compliant heads of government, kidnaps and terrorizes pro-Ukrainian residents, and plunders the country.

It was a clear announcement from the head of the Kakhovsky district appointed by the Russian armed forces: since May 1, all business people and companies in the Moscow-occupied Ukrainian region of Kherson have had to accept Russian rubles in addition to Ukrainian hryvnias – and all goods also in Russian rubles mark currency. The goal is “the rapid restoration of economic processes,” said the district chief by the grace of Moscow.
