Good morning dear readers,
the war in the Urkaine starts in the 208th day. Since the beginning of the war, representatives from various countries have repeatedly campaigned for a peaceful solution to the Ukraine war. French President Emmanuel Macron in particular had repeatedly urged the Russian head of state to call for a ceasefire. But now even they Government in Kyiv no longer interested in peace negotiations. At least that’s what she calls it pointless. Has the successful counter-offensive boosted the Ukrainians’ fighting spirit?
At least that is what the external adviser to the head of the Ukrainian presidential office, Mykhailo Podoliak, argues:
- Russia will try to retain and legitimize land gains
- Holding on to the status quo is only serving Russia as a breathing space so that it can then continue the attacks on the new line
- Russia must be held accountable for crimes committed on Ukrainian territory
President Volodymyr Zelenysky already has one further offensive against Russia announced. A bridgehead is already being formed in the east of the country in order to reconquer other occupied areas, says Zelenskyj in his video speech every evening.
