The Russian secret service FSB has according to their own statements several members one Ukrainian sabotage network on the peninsula annexed by Russia Crimea arrested.

The “agent network of the Ukrainian military intelligence service” has planned “a series of major acts of sabotage and terrorist attacks in Crimea,” the FSB said in a statement.

Seven people were reportedly arrested and explosives and detonators were confiscated. The components are said to have been smuggled from Bulgaria to Russia via Turkey and Georgia.

Among other things, the group is said to have planned to assassinate high-ranking politicians, including the Moscow-installed governor of the Crimean Peninsula, which was annexed by Russia in 2014.

The intelligence agency’s statement came amid a spate of attacks and acts of sabotage on Russian or Russian-annexed territory in recent days.
