Russian President Vladimir Putin called the Nord Stream explosions an act of “international terrorism” from which the United States, Ukraine and Poland benefited. In early March, the New York Times, citing US intelligence information, wrote that a “pro-Ukrainian group” was behind the act of sabotage. Danish media, in turn, reported at the end of April that a Russian naval vessel specializing in underwater operations was near the crime scenes shortly before the explosions.
