The political working week in Kiev had barely begun when Ukraine’s defense minister, Oleksiy Resnikov, submitted his resignation to the Ukrainian parliament. President Volodymyr Zelensky had announced the night before that he would dismiss Reznikov and propose ex-parliamentarian, manager and experienced negotiator Rustem Umerov as the new defense minister.
