Ukraine develops invisibility cloak: soldiers become “invisible”

Watch the video: Ukraine develops invisibility cloak: Soldiers become “invisible”.

The video intended to present the new clothing was posted on social media by the Ukrainian Minister of Digital Transformation. The technology is more complete than shown in the video, says Maxim Boryak, a member of the team that developed the invisibility cloak as part of the Brave1 research program organized by the Ukrainian government. “In the video you can see a person’s face not covered by a special mask; “A protective mask is included in the camouflage set,” he explains. “If you wear a protective mask and special glasses, a thermal imaging device becomes ‘blind’.” Russia is equipping more and more surveillance drones with night vision optics, and the invisibility cloaks could give Ukrainian troops an advantage at night. The technology was developed with a large number of special units in mind that have to operate covertly. However, the technology only works as long as the soldiers do not move quickly. Russia has also claimed in the past to have developed special materials to protect against thermal imaging cameras.
