The British chair-back is reportedly moving to the next round. According to British media, Prime Minister Liz Truss apparently wants to reassign the post of Home Secretary Suella Bravermann.

British Prime Minister Liz Truss is reportedly looking to reassign Home Secretary Suella Braverman’s post. Unnamed Home Office sources confirmed to the British news agency PA on Wednesday afternoon that the minister was leaving government after the Guardian had previously reported. It was initially unclear whether the interior minister voluntarily resigned or was fired.

Ex-Transport Secretary Grant Shapps acted as his successor

There has been speculation that former Transport Secretary Grant Shapps could become Home Secretary. Braverman belonged to the extreme right wing of the party and was a frequent contributor to comments on her plans to toughen up deportations. She recently railed against “tofu-eating” leftists in parliament.

It would be the second change in an important department within six days. Truss fired her Treasury Secretary Kwasi Kwarteng on Friday and replaced her with former Secretary of State Jeremy Hunt. The conservative head of government is fighting for office after she triggered financial chaos with planned tax breaks and had to turn around.
