A “serious incident” caused a stir in Nottingham in the morning. Roads are blocked, the police are in action with a large contingent. Soon it becomes clear: there are dead and injured.

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has spoken out after the incident in Nottingham that left three dead and three injured. “I would like to thank the police and emergency services for their continued response to the shocking incident in Nottingham this morning,” the Conservative Prime Minister wrote on Twitter on Tuesday.

Police had previously said a 31-year-old man had been arrested on suspicion of murder after three people were killed in Nottingham city centre. In addition, three people were injured after a van was deliberately directed at them.

Nothing was initially known about the background to the incident. “I will be kept informed of developments,” Sunak wrote on Twitter. He stressed that the police must be given the time to do their job. He added: “My thoughts are with the injured and the families and loved ones of those who have lost their lives.”

Interior Minister Suella Braverman was also “shocked and saddened” by the deaths of the three people. “My thoughts are with the people affected by the incident,” she tweeted.
