Several suspected cases and one confirmed case: the Ebola virus has again been detected in a deceased in Uganda. According to the WHO, it is a rare, particularly aggressive variant.

At least one person has died from Ebola in Uganda. The Ugandan Ministry of Health announced on Twitter that the virus had been detected in the Mubende district, about 170 kilometers west of the capital Kampala. The dead man is a 24-year-old.

Several suspected cases

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the confirmed case was preceded by several suspected cases. Six people in the region have been hospitalized with typical Ebola symptoms since the beginning of the month and have died. Eight other suspected cases are currently being examined.

According to the WHO, the relatively rare Sudan Ebola virus was detected in the confirmed case. Along with the Zaire Ebola virus, it is one of the most aggressive variants.

WHO promises support

According to WHO Africa director Matshidiso Moeti, it is the first time in ten years that the Sudan variant has been detected in Uganda. The doctor announced that Uganda would be supported with aids. In August, neighboring Congo reported a new Ebola outbreak.
