UEFA opens disciplinary cases against OGC Nice and Cologne

After the opening by the Nice prosecutor’s office of three investigations “with the aim of identifying and arresting the perpetrators of the offences” (violence in meetings around and inside the Allianz Riviera, damage and throwing of smoke bombs on the sidelines of the Nice-Cologne meeting in the Europa Conference League), UEFA also reacted by announcing, this Friday afternoon, the opening of two disciplinary cases.

The first concerns Nice. The charges retained are “throwing objects”, “use of smoke bombs”, “incidents in the stands”, “identification of responsible persons”, “staff security”, “limitation of the movements of spectators” and “blocking of public passages”.

The charges against Cologne are “throwing objects”, “use of smoke bombs” and “incidents in the stands”. Suffice to say that Nice risks sanctions from the UEFA Disciplinary Committee, which will meet soon, due to possible shortcomings in the organization of the match. Just like Cologne, of course, whose supporters attacked the Nice people before the kick-off of the meeting.
